Mayweather, Hatton to square off for world welterweight championship

Helping to promote their upcoming “UNDEFEATED” welterweight championship, “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather and Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton packed their bags and took off on a five-city global media tour, marking the first time since the days of Muhammad Ali that a press tour traveled across seas. The two champions own a combined record of 81-0 and will collide in the ring Dec. 8 at MGM Grand, live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

The first city on the historic trip was Los Angeles on Sept. 17, and was followed by a stop on Sept. 18 in Mayweather’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Mich. (at Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills High School, Mayweather’s alma mater).

Other stops include New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Rockefeller Plaza, Center Garden; London, England, on Thursday, Sept. 20, at O2 Arena, Vue Theater; and Manchester, England, Hatton’s hometown, on Friday, Sept. 21, at Manchester Town Hall.

“UNDEFEATED,” featuring Mayweather’s defense of his world welterweight championship against Hatton, the universally recognized world junior welterweight champion, is being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and Mayweather Promotions.

Tickets are now on sale and available for purchase by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or to charge by phone with a major credit card call (702) 474-4000. Ticket sales will be limited to two (2) per person.

The Mayweather-Hatton pay-per-view telecast, beginning at 9 p.m., will be produced and distributed by HBO Pay-Per-View and will be available to more than 61 million pay-per-view homes. Tigers pass 3 million tickets sold for 2007

The Detroit Tigers recently announced that sales of Tigers tickets for the 2007 season surpassed the 3,000,000 mark for the first time in the history of the franchise. Tickets sold for the entire season stood at 3,004,343. The previous club record, set in the world championship season of 1984 at Tiger Stadium, was 2,704,794.
