COMERICA ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER FORMER CONTESTANT ON NBC’s ‘BIGGEST LOSER’
One of Carla Triplett’s biggest struggles in life has been her weight. At age 36, she weighed 380 pounds and decided it was time for a life change.

Triplett and her friend, Joelle Gwynn, both from Detroit, participated in this season’s
“Biggest Losers Couples Edition.”

She lost about nine pounds a week, taking her total loss to 40 pounds before she was eliminated after the fifth week.

Although Triplett has managed to lose weight at varying times, she always gains it back.

“My turning point was when I looked at some pictures of me when I was smaller and then looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the person I was looking at,” Triplett said.

Working as an assistant branch manager
at Comerica Bank’s Warren-Evergreen location, people often recognize Triplett from the show.

Looking back, she said the only change she would have made was encouraging her teammate and best friend more.

“One thing, I could have done differently
was to continue to encourage my teammate to be strong and stay focused,” she said. “She let me down numerous times and I exploded on her.”

Being the second of four children, she struggled for attention by showing off, overeating and getting in trouble. Being on the “Biggest Loser” boosted her confidence
to continue to lose weight.

“I’ve experienced being home for 30 days before, therefore me being back home didn’t prevent me from continuing
my weight loss. I have no obstacles to overcome because I’ve learned how to work out at home when I can’t make it to the gym. I’ve learned how to buy the groceries
that I need for my calorie intake.”

The two friends decided to go on the show because they wanted the support and encouragement to lose the weight as a team.

Triplett said the hardest adaption for her was the workout.

And, she did not enjoy working out her husband before, because she thought he was too hard.

Now Triplett has lost more weight and is continuing to stay focused on being healthy.
