A bank’s connection to the community is one of the strongest links it can forge. Regardless of how big a bank may be, it is the communities they serve that determine its success. The businesses and people that make up the neighborhoods surrounding each Fifth Third banking center is the foundation that fuels the growth of that center. The bank then in turn supports that community with financial and human services that creates a stable prosperous core for people who live there. Whether it is small business loans, mortgages or checking products, everyone uses the bank to reach for better tomorrow’s. Banks and communities count on each other. We are all in this together....

Many banks are getting a boost through the U.S. Treasury's Capital Purchase Plan (CPP), in which the U.S. Treasury is investing $250 billion in banks that are approved by their primary regulators and the U.S. Treasury to participate. In addition to helping banks, the American consumer also will realize a significant benefit from the program.

At Fifth Third Bank we historically celebrate the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas as the Season of Giving. For 2008 we are renaming this tradition the Season of Caring. Caring because there is so much more that we do around our year-end holidays besides simply giving and donating. In fact, in these difficult financial times we are often stretched as individuals to give as much as we may have in the past. But that is where our caring takes over.
